If you’re lucky enough to be in the Smokies this Halloween season, you’ll find plenty of exciting ways to celebrate this spooktacular holiday! Whether you want to see thousands of glowing pumpkins lighting up the night sky, explore the sinister corridors of a haunted house or even go trick or treating, you’ll find it all just minutes away from our Smoky Mountain cabin rentals! Here are 4 fun ways to celebrate Halloween in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge:
The Great Pumpkin LumiNights at Dollywood is a highlight of the theme park’s popular Harvest Festival and features thousands of jack-o-lanterns and larger-than-life pumpkin displays! As you walk through the park each evening, you’ll see the spectacular glowing pumpkins in every direction! To add to the Halloween feel, the smell of mouth-watering fall treats fills the air and tempts your appetite! Of course, while attending the Great Pumpkin LumiNights, you can also enjoy all of the other popular rides, shows, and attractions at Dollywood!
The Smoky Mountains are home to several year-round haunted house attractions but with even more intensity during the Halloween season! Gatlinburg’s Mysterious Mansion is a 3-story haunted mansion where you’ll depart on a self-guided tour through secret passageways, eerie dark corridors, and winding staircases with live actors! Meanwhile, Ripley’s Haunted Adventure in downtown Gatlinburg offers a bone-chilling walk-through experience with tons of special effects and unexpected surprises! If you are in Pigeon Forge, don’t miss Outbreak: Dread the Undead! You’ll need a brave soul to challenge the chambers of this zombie-themed haunt!
Another one of the fun ways to celebrate Halloween in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge is with a Ghost Walk of Gatlinburg! Join your tour guide and take a leisurely stroll through the shadowy streets of Gatlinburg to hear stories of the strange and unexplained! You’ll learn about a number of haunted hotels and buildings in the downtown area, and even hear about a gruesome murder committed at a very famous hotel in the area! As if that doesn’t sound spooky enough, see a cemetery that was built in 1830 and see some photos of paranormal activity that have been taken along the tour route!
If you are around on Halloween night, take the kids trick or treating at The Island in Pigeon Forge from 5 PM to 7 PM! During these hours, you’ll be able to collect some delicious treats as you visit the various participating locations! Get into the fun by dressing up in your most creative costume and get ready to have a frightfully good time with your family and friends! There is no fee for this event and as always, parking at The Island in Pigeon Forge is completely free!
