When you visit the Great Smoky Mountains, you can’t leave without eating classic southern food at least once on your trip! From crispy fried chicken to savory chicken and dumplings, there are so many traditional dishes you will want to try. But where will you find the authentic stuff? We can help with that! Check out these southern restaurants in Pigeon Forge and Sevierville.
One of the most popular places to get southern food in Pigeon Forge is The Old Mill Restaurant. Not only will you find fried chicken breasts and legs on the menu, you’ll also spot fried beef liver, country fried steak, fried pork chops, and fried ham. If you would rather have one of the Southern Specialties, you can’t go wrong with the homemade meatloaf, pot roast and gravy, or chicken pot pie. Every meal at The Old Mill is served with corn chowder, corn fritters, a side salad, mashed potatoes, green beans, and the dessert of your choice.
For a truly southern experience, you should grab a bite to eat at Mama’s Farmhouse. You can get a southern breakfast unlike any other with biscuits and gravy, bacon, eggs, and sausage. If you eat here for lunch or dinner, you can indulge in honey glazed ham, country fried steak, or fried chicken with mashed potatoes, fried okra, mac and cheese, and much more. The unique thing about this restaurant in Pigeon Forge is that food is served family style, so everyone shares from large bowls instead of ordering their own individual plates!
Another fantastic restaurant in Pigeon Forge that has a great take on southern food is Huck Finn’s Catfish. You can’t go wrong with their signature cornmeal fried catfish or southern fried chicken, and if you’re truly hungry, you can get both! Other entree options include chicken livers, fried clam shells, fried and grilled shrimp, chopped steak, pork chops, and more. With anything you order at Huck Finn’s, you’ll receive their vittles, which include baked white beans, coleslaw, hushpuppies, dill pickles, and sweet onion slices with your choice of fried, green beans, or mashed potatoes and gravy!
If you happen to be in the Sevierville area, a popular place that is known for its southern food is Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant. This eatery is in The Apple Barn Village, and they serve all 3 meals of the day. Breakfast could be any combo of eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, pancakes, muffins, and more. For lunch and dinner, you can’t go wrong with sugar cured ham, chicken livers, country fried chicken, or meatloaf. Once you’re done at the restaurant, you’ll want to explore the rest of the area!
And our final restaurant in Sevierville that has delicious southern cuisine is Five Oaks Farm Kitchen. They’re known for huge portion sizes for all 3 meals, so you can share a stack of griddle cakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, and grits. You also will want to add their giant cinnamon roll to your meal for breakfast, but if you happen to stop in for lunch or dinner, the southern barbeque options are incredible. You also can’t go wrong with the fried chicken livers, catfish, or open faced pot roast!
